Revenge Edition GTO and John Lingenfelter Signature Series GTO

August 7th, 2007 Posted in Articles No Comments »

Revenge Designs LLC in joint venture with Lingenfelter Performance Engineering have combined their styling and engineering talents to create a very special vehicle for the driving purist.

Mr. Peter Collorafi is a car designer from Queensland, Australia. Peter has been designing and installing modifications for factory produced vehicles since 1980. For the past six years, Peter and his son Justine have worked with GM Holden on the Monaro creating mild performance and award winning styling modification packages for the Monaro. Because of Peter’s background and experience, he realized that the Pontiac enthusiast would not accept the Monaro as the new GTO. As a result, Peter and Justin set out to find a way to improve the GTO design.

In July of 2005, Peter met with Mr. Tom Cress, the new owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE). Tom’s association with the late Mr. John E Lingenfelter exceeds over 20 years. John Lingenfelter recently lost his life due to a racing accident and Tom Cress wanted something to accent the Lingenfelter racing legacy, which is famous for its enhancements to another GM product, the Corvette, the archetypical American muscle car. From their discussions, the Revenge Designs’ Enhancement was born. The two decided to offer the Revenge modification in two versions.

August 1st, 2007 Posted in Articles No Comments »

Some say (including me) that the 2008 Acura CL is a powerful, excellently responsive and agile car that can connect you to the road and makes you feel that you were fused to it. Acura CL is the modern embodiment of the classic European GT automobiles.

2008 Acura CL has two available models –225 horsepower CL and 260 horsepower Type-S

They maybe have difference in terms of car power but both of these models can hug corners absolutely with no trouble. The engine in both models offers the performance and environmental benefits of Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control, earning both cars that all-important status as Low-Emission automobiles.

This time, the saying “to see is to believe” does not apply because by simply viewing the pictures or photos of these cars cannot do justice to the experience of actually driving one for your self. Just like what we did, drive one first before you say something about it and for us, THUMBS UP!

The new 2008 Nissan 350Z is now quicker and sleeker than ever before, the 350Z show off an engine filled with racing technology, a drive shaft made with carbon fiber composites, and aluminum-suspension design that does the amazing. This car has drag coefficients so low, the aerodynamics were calibrated in a high-tech wind tunnel.

As for 2008, the 350Z comes in five distinct and good-looking models:

The Basic 350Z, 350Z Performance, 350Z Track, 350Z Enthusiast and the 350Z Touring

It has a VQ35DE engine that generates 287 hp and 274 pounds-per-foot of torque, featuring continuously variable valve timing for optimum utilization of fuel. The 2008 350Z also comes standard with the new Z aluminum suspension: three links up front, another four in the rear, ripple-control shocks, and a unique separation of the rear shock and springs, all of which merge to offer the smoothest ride around.

Exterior features include:

Some obtainable accessories in 350Z:
Splash Guards, Rear Spoiler, Vehicle Cover and Sill Plates with aluminum inserts.

What you see in the 2008 Nissan 350Z picture in other websites is exactly what you get - nothing but sumptuousness.

The 350Z is a safe car. The car show off a high-intensity cabin structure built with crossmembers and reinforcements, for extra support. It has front dual-stage air bags and available side air curtains, also front and rear crumple zones. The hood of 350Z is built with buckling creases to buckle at predetermined points while the engine, in certain frontal impacts, is designed to drop down and away from the passenger section.

Because of these, now I know why almost every 2008 Nissan 350Z review is so positively written.

2007 Chrysler 300C CRD

July 27th, 2007 Posted in Articles No Comments »

Mercedes-Benz has hand over a 215-hp, turbocharged and intercooled, 3.0-liter diesel
V-6 to the Chrysler Group, which has stuffed it beneath the hood of the 300 sedan. With 376 lb-ft of torque, just 11 lb-ft below the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8, this engine drives the 300 to 62 mph in 7.6 seconds, only 1.2 seconds slower than the Hemi. And it returns an average of 29 mpg when cruising at 80 mph. Regrettably, the 300C CRD (common-rail diesel) is not available in America.

The European-market sales of the 300 have dramatically increased since the diesel became obtainable. The CRD is markedly quicker and more satisfying to drive than 300s with the anemic, unrefined 3.5 and 2.7-liter gasoline V-6s. CRD is by far the cheapest to run in the range. It is also truly fulfilling to ride with.

Only few car drivers have the guts to put the pedal on the floor in daily driving. So, you will not really detect the difference between the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel and the 5.7-liter Hemi most of the time. The diesel’s abundant torque, obtainable from idle, means that the car always feels active. 2007 300C CRD’s top speed is 141 mph, but we maintain at legal speeds except for a few uphill autoroute stretches, where the big sedan easily rocketed to 120 mph before we backed off. Fuel economy consumption was 27 mpg–city, highway, and uphill sprints.

The Chrysler Corp. is now offering the Mercedes diesel in the U.S.-market Jeep Grand Cherokee, but why is it that they won’t offer the 300C CRD in the U.S.?

When low-sulphur diesel fuel and the latest wave of emissions controls arrive in the States, people will be seriously shocked by just how good diesels have become while they weren’t paying attention.

2008 Callaway C16 Convertible

July 26th, 2007 Posted in Articles No Comments »

Founder of Callaway Cars, Reeves Callaway, has given already-capable Corvettes the Barry Bonds treatment for decades, making some of the fastest exotics in the world. The C16, introduced at the 2006 Los Angeles show, was the newest of these steroid-injected beasts. 2008 Callaway C16 can go from 0-to-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph.

Same with the C16 coupe, the convertible obtains its power from a 560-hp supercharged 6.0-liter V-8 engine, with an elective performance package that increases its output to 616 hp. There is no convertible version of the Corvette Z06, so that package is good for a jump of over 200 hp over next-most-powerful Corvette convertible. Three transmissions will be obtainable: two six-speed manual boxes (one with shorter ratios for first through fourth gear) or a six-speed, paddle-shifted automatic. Since convertible-car owners traditionally cruise more boulevards than race tracks, the latter is expected to be more popular for this made-to-order supercharged beast.

Alterations from the original Corvette platform aren’t limited to just exterior styling and engine performance. A coil-over suspension system has been co-developed with Eibach, and features ride height, corner weight, and pitch angle adjustability. Since the car is capable of 200-plus mph, the brakes have been customized, too. Stoptech developed the C16’s 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, all of which bite down on 355 mm diameter rotors. Magnesium and carbon fiber wheels (the lightest roadgoing wheels in the industry) help lower the car’s unsprung heaviness.

Although lots of things are changed, the Callaway C16 does preserve some of the Chevy’s best qualities. C16’s fuel efficiency rating in the city is 18 mpg and 28 on the highway, it is emissions compliant, and it’s even backed by GM’s 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Sorry folks, sad to say that the C16 doesn’t keep the Corvette’s base price. A completely loaded C16 convertible will cost $128,765.

2008 Volkswagen Golf GTI Pirelli

July 25th, 2007 Posted in Articles No Comments »

Before you get too thrilled about what you read, know that presently there are no plans to sell the Golf GTI Pirelli in the U. S. Having said that, you won’t be missing a whole heck of a lot.

Ready to go on sale in Europe this September, the GTI Pirelli is a special edition car that reflects the “original” GTI Pirelli that was available in 1983. There were approximately 10,000 of those cars built, with their most distinctive feature being the Pirelli “P” on the outer edges of their fourteen inch alloy wheels.

2008 VW Golf GTI Pirelli differentiates itself from the normal GTI in much the same way. It rolls on eighteen inch Pirelli wheels with the newest P Zero tires for rubber. The car loses the black trim found on the GTI in favor of being evenly coated in options of four colors. There will be only one exclusive color - “Sunflower” yellow. Inside, unique upholstery has a tire tread pattern; yellow stitching and Pirelli badges decorated the seats, wheel, and handbrake lever.

Mechanically, the 2.0-liter FSI four-cylinder has been tuned to bring more power-226 hp versus an even 200 for the normal GTI-with little-to-no fuel-economy penalty. Top speed has crept up to 152 mph.

The sports car races to the 100 km/h mark in just 6.8 seconds. But it can go even faster: When the GTI Pirelli is ordered with the elective DSG dual clutch transmission, the most powerful GTI of all times shatters through the magic ’sound barrier’ in 6.6 seconds. The GTI philosophy of agility is accompanied by the efficiency with which this Turbo-FSI goes to work: 8.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, or 7.9 liters with DSG, are proof of the virtuosity with which Volks¬wagen masters the keyboard of engine construction.

Volkswagen enthusiast will tell you, half the fun of owning a GTI is the endless potential for customization from hundreds of aftermarket suppliers.

July 25th, 2007 Posted in Articles No Comments »

For the duration of our first test-drive of the new-fangled G6, which replaces the Grand Am, a Pontiac engineer confess that when he flies to California, he holds his breath after exiting the airport terminal until he sees a Pontiac. Sometimes he nearly passes out before conceding that there are no Grand Ams, Grand Prixs, or Bonne-villes swimming in the sea of Hondas, Toyotas, and BMWs. Pontiac is hopeful to change that with the G6 and has even abandoned its best-selling nameplate-Grand Am-to make the point that this is a truly different Pontiac.

The Pontiac G6 Sedan proves itself a useful and sometimes an entertaining tool.

Style:

To complement its smooth, shapely exterior, it has the only four-panel sliding glass roof in its class. What’s more, you can make that style your own with a wide variety of customizable options and accessories.
