SEMA ACTION NETWORK: Promoting Legislative Solutions for the Auto Hobby

National Security. Bribery and fraud scandals. Dwindling natural resources. With all that and more going on every day, you’d think our lawmakers would have better things to do than hassle us about how we use our cars, right? Wrong.

For all you know, your home state legislators may be brewing new laws about how you can outfit your weekend cruiser or where you can restore projects that aren’t quite ready for the road.

That’s where SAN comes in. SAN is the SEMA Action Network, a nationwide partnership of car clubs, and individual enthusiast (like you) who work together to impact legislation that affects wheel hobbyist of all kinds. You know SEMA: It’s that trade organization of aftermarket companies that puts on the cool new-parts show in Vegas every year.

SAN’s primary tool is information: SEMA’s Washington, D.C. staff monitors pending legislation, then broadcast news about those bills through its Web site (www.semasan.com), a monthly newsletter, and a-mail alerts sent directly to your inbox. These explain how each bill would impact you, directs action to be taken, and even gives you contact information so you don’t have to figure out where to send your message. SAN also helps draft laws on titling/registration, backyard restorations, and other pro-hobby issues.

Best of all, participation in SAN is FREE. You read that right. It won’t cost you a thing. Why get involved? Simple. Knowledge is power, folks. When more of us know about them, the better we can protect our obsession with everything on wheels.

Joining SAN is easy. Log on to www.semasan.com to add your voice to this growing movement to protect our way of life.
